I have tried pretty much every bird that I could find that is indigenous and/or lives in the Faroe Islands and their scientific name and some of their Faroese names. Also, maybe I'm stone cold fuck nuts, but I don't see what the first clue has to do with anything, but maybe I'm not seeing the big picture.

What thing? The first clue was all about being abstract ♡

A writing desk over the island of Nolsoy. Riddles and writing desks...

Well the pied raven is the bird that ONLY lived on Faroe Islands and was last seen on Nolstoy, so it has to be that.

And my guess for the "something something something something" is referring to using the imperial system instead of the metric system... and the Faroenese ravens are maximum 440mm in height, so I converted that to feet&inches but it's not giving me any success.

I've also tried everything I can think of related to Mendelian genetics, which didn't work either. Neither did the official Faroenese name for the specific type of bird.

Oh goodness. What a waste of an hour and 17 minutes looking at that first clue.

Well, I've spent too much time trying to figure it out to not get it now. I may have to quit my job if it means staying online until I figure it out because this could take a while.

I also tried 1948, winter1947, late1948. 1947, but I don't think I was on the right track there icon_lol

also with googling your hint about what the picture is, I feel like I don't have a huge chance figuring it out myself because I never read that book

ya the 1st clue is "writing desk" and the 3rd clue is "raven" and so the famous line involves that...

I'm guessing the 2nd clue uses that to tie both together and give us an answer.

I haven't read Alice in Wonderland and am not familiar with the story, but through googling & reading some things, the Mad Hatter says: "How is a Raven like a Writing desk?" and the answer is that there is no answer.

And according to the thing I'm reading, the Mad Hatter has a chat with Alice at his tea party about how 'time is not an abstract concept' and apparently in the story time is a person who was mad at him and so he froze time to stay at 6 forever.

I wonder if that gets us on the right track?

icon_lol I've tried a lot of "noanswer" type entries but none work.

I think the key is the 2nd clue to link it all together, but I'm not sure what it is.

with the new development I just feel a little stuck. I may just go to sleep tonight. icon_sad

There has to be something to do with Ravens and Writing desks relating to the Alice in Wonderland thing... but I'm not sure what, and feel like I'm probably too tired at this point to figure it out.

also one of my main incentives for finding it is so that I won't have one of the forums marked as "unread" on my homepage icon_lol
